On the other hand, not staffing up at this point would be criminal - imagine, if you get the approval and don't have the staff to manage the supply chain and satisfy contracts. The company's got at least £89m in the bank and just £1m will cover the salaries for these 3 senior managers for a couple years. Can always lay them off later if nothing major happens. No approval = legal basis for redundancies.

Yes. They have the cash to pay the staff. It would be daft not to recruit, even if you thought that your chances of approval were about 40-50% imho.

P3 is for covid only.
The drug itself, if successful as a broad spectrum anti-viral, is priceless, but it will take time and money to take it to market. Money, that the company won't have and time that many investors won't have if we fail the covid play. Most likely, sp will crash and the drug will be bought very cheap by a large pharma to take it to market and make a fortune selling it.

They could not have been recruiting - that was noise from one of the crazy rampers.

A few SNG staff have been saying that "we are ready to start dosing imminently" for weeks now, but the FDA decision was holding us back. Now I can only guess it's MHRA, as the most of our trial is in the UK and we need to alight our process with them.

I thought RM said on his "call" that we won't be waiting for the rest of the world to approve the changes.
Anyway, if this trial has started already, I'd expect some media coverage. Going to be Early/Mid January I'm afraid.

In any case, home trial should be coming in soon - that's probably our next bit of excitement.

From what I'm reading, MAbs treatment is closer to a blood transfusion than to a single jab - am I just completely misunderstanding all this?

kenneth - I am a sceptical bugger. A month ago the vaccine news were sold as "Britain is the first country in the world to beat covid by authorising Pfizer vax on preliminary data. Britain in the First! Britain is the best! Covid is defeated!".

Pretty much the whole country's on lockdown at the moment...

As far as I understand, aspirin is a good thing, because it will save a small proportion of severe covid cases by preventing clots. It's hardly a "breakthrough covid cure".
The whole article is just an advert for the recovery trial.

If it makes you feel any better - you're not the only one who's had a sh.te year. As long as you've managed to keep the roof over your head and stay warm, fed and reasonably healthy, then the year's been a success.

scinv - what's your take on P3 design and chances of P3 success (assuming we actually start P3 and complete dosing in Q1)? Are the previously quoted chances of 75-90% success realistic?

Any concerns about using a double dose in nebulisers that are only 70% efficient?
