Newbie - to be honest, my knowledge of anything medical is close to zero, so I have no understanding of how these things work (or don't work). Background is economics, finance and accounting and that's what I use for my stock market plays.

I might be wrong, but I always thought that FDA was more about protecting the interests of american pharmas, than actually regulating the drug industry... We've all watched Dallas buyers club.
So would it not be a rubber stamp approval if Donald is happy with it? There is plenty of evidence (from outside of the US) that drug is safe. Enough evidence to get permission to do phase 2 in the UK, with supposedly much higher reg standards.

Trump's signature move is to reduce regs of course, so this has the potential to become a very strong political play.
