Hi everyone,
I have not been posting or reading much recently due to dealing with a family bereavement in Ireland last week. I’ve haven’t been in the mood for the usual “banter” on here.
I did meet Shaun with Bamps, Jerry et al and can only echo their sentiments entirely. I was highly impressed with his demeanour and both his passion and knowledge for the company and the project. He is definitely a far better performer in the flesh than in front of the camera and I would encourage everyone to take the next opportunity to meet him, whenever that occurs.
After he had finished the Q&A session (that Donald hogged) he came into his own whilst trying to have lunch. About 20/25 of us crowded round and he fielded all the questions with aplomb IMO. There were a couple of interesting snippets that I felt were worth mentioning.
I asked whether NCM had accepted the MRE2 seeing as they had issued a statement saying that they hadn’t reviewed it at that time. Shaun said they had been given a copy about 3 weeks before it was made public, and it was more important what they didn’t say rather than what they did. If they felt it was inaccurate then they would be duty bound to point that out.
I think “Magic” was discussing the geology of the Eastern breccia and the opportunities there and his words were “watch this space”. I pressed him on his comment in the Sunday Roast about base metal opportunities other than the copper and he just smiled.
All in all – I came away with a nice warm feeling that Shaun is the right man, in the right place, at the right time. He is dealing with legacy issues that are not of his making but again he stressed on multiple occasions that us shareholders should be confident that he has the team in place to extract the maximum value from this asset for all of us – I was greatly reassured.
