Thar Solar
The energy yield from this solar farm can potentially be integrated into the national grid. It can also be sold to private energy distributors. Additionally, it can be used within the premises of Thar Block VI for the coal-to-gas and coal-to-liquid conversion process. The Government of Sindh has affirmed its commitment, granting provisional permission and support to seamlessly facilitate the development.
The company has acquired 7,000 acres (28.3 km2) of land, located in the wind corridor in Jhimpir, which has an annual wind power generation capacity of more than 50,000 MW with average wind speeds of up-to 8 m/s. The Company has obtained an LOI from the Government, permitting the Company to produce 1.2 GW of hybrid power. The annual target output is approximately 55,000 tonnes of high purity Green Hydrogen or 275,000 tonnes of Green Ammonia, potentially using 400 MW capacity electrolysers, 500 MW wind and 800 MW solar plants, along with adequate battery storage.
Additionally, $18 million was committed to the Sindh Solar Energy Project, aimed at boosting renewable energy adoption and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
