Hi mate. I don’t think they’ve ever published any exact amounts invested in any shares or etfs. If you go back to results and Navs from end of 16 into 17, when all they had written into “working capital” was pretty much shares and etfs, you’d be inclined to think positions were in the £100-200k regions. Maybe more for some. Yes Ascendant has stuttered as with most resources lately, but it will rise over next few years imo.
Just have the same vision - I have. I’ve had to sit through a bit of pain last 6-8 months, listening to the doom and gloom of short term-ism posters, it’s given me the opportunity to accumulate more around these levels.. whilst nothing’s changed. In-fact the story got much much better while the whole resources sector was taking a beating. Think, in a few years from now.. if what Ascendant are saying comes off.. what MAFL’s market cap would be, owning 15% of it all- and 3%+ of Ascendant? Even 20m m/c would be dwarfed in that scenario. Speculation- yes. But the credentials of the guys running this are there for all to see. One day rodney.. ;-)
Substantial indeed, and ambitious. Even if they (in years ahead) only manage to do a 5th of the revenue that Neves Corvo pulls out the ground - it’s bloody huge. That mine is only 40-50 miles up the road from LS, same belt. Lundin doesn’t produce the pie chart breakdown in the quarter results anymore, but during 2017 they did. (link below).. Neves Corvo was contributing roughly 16% of group quarterly revenue. In the quarter below, that was $72 million PER QUARTER. Mind blowing figures. https://www.lundinmining.com/site/assets/files/3788/2017q2_presentation.pdf https://www.lundinmining.com/operations/neves-corvo/ Obviously all this is pure speculation, and even if/when Ascendant’s vision comes to fruition, is years away. But MAFL would end up owning 15% of this outright .. and it’s cost us nothing/nada from here right now to get the asset to that level. Ascendant are paying! :) 3m market cap? lovely...
Anyone seen this? Ascendant Ceo interview from end of last year, about half way through talks about Lagoa Salgada. Says looking to be the next Neves Corvo .. wow turns over billions.. Who gets the feeling they’re going to expand this thing pretty rapid this year :-)

And as someone pointed out earlier..
"A physical gold position is a core holding in our portfolio. We believe gold to be undervalued at current prices and are considering adding to our position during the price weakness of this summer."
They already hold a fair bit from lows of early 2016 I think.. if they added..Well this is the price lately:

Nice to see 2 of MAFLs share holdings on the up also, Imperial Metals has risen as much as MAFL over the last week. Artemis Resources up a bit too.

It's looking good shaz!.. All the pain will hopefully begin to pay off this year.
We have expanded resource to come. Nav update. But then we should also start to factor in the next payments from Ascendant, as the resource is expanded, it will trigger next buy in and will be announced.. all healthy to the bottom line.
Strangely still easy to sell if anyone wants out :-) .. youinvest have been shy of offering online quotes for last 6 month. Would take 100k just above 7p . I’m sticking my tongue out at mm’s. You ain’t getting mine
Appointed an experienced exploration guy.. eh is to over see lagoa salgada and their other el mochito project. “His considerable knowledge of VMS deposits will also greatly assist to rapidly advance the highly prospective Lagoa Salgada VMS project in Portugal,” commented Chris Buncic, President and CEO of Ascendant. https://www.ascendantresources.com/English/Investors/press-releases/press-release-details/2018/Ascendant-Resources-Announces-Appointment-of-Robert-Campbell-as-Vice-President-Exploration/default.aspx
