What unites the three players I singled out is the pure unadulterated joy they displayed with a football. You know they have done this for all their lives and the ball has almost become part of them, tied to their feet. Watching their control and movement was like reading poetry. There are hundreds of other world class footballers as well, but these three are high among my personal favourites.

I think of George Best as belonging in the same class as Maradona and Pele, i.e. one of the most gifted footballers we have ever seen. That is just my opinion though!

Agree with Hunter S Thompson, I think the intensity of the life that you have lived is a better measure than longevity.

Obama optimism was still in play in 2015. Plus all the things hardup said. 88p was an all time high, not representative over a longer timeline. PPI went on and on, other legal scandals surfaced so it went into a steady decline. Then it had a stinky referendum moment which has been followed by repeat disasters ever since.
I remember in 2008 when my lodger came home and told me lloyds had closed at 10 or 11p per share. If I'd had money to invest then, I wouldn't be sitting here now with an average of 44p. But I am not about to sell.
