Strangely very quiet today considering the volume of late, which makes me think even more that something is most definitely around the corner.

Another day without an RNS with regards to the disposal of Capital's holding which to me is another sure sign that Goldmans are up to something. They love to leave trade reporting for as long as possible so that they can hoover up stock in the meantime without arousing too much suspicion.

I think we may see some real action tomorrow.

And a slight correction from yesterday, the volume was actually 37million shares traded, the highest volume in the stock traded this year.

....will be arriving in their offices shortly so fingers crossed we should see some action like yesterday after lunch.

Hi, just coming back to you with regards to the hedged trade GS and Liberty currently have in place.

In a nutshell its a basket of equity swaps and put/call options with varying strike prices all the way up to the year 2030. Unfortunately for us mere investors we are not privileged with too much information as its all done 'in-house' between GS and Liberty.

The complex deal releases a cash amount for some or maybe all of ITV shares to Liberty from GS and gives the freedom for GS to play around with the stock as they so wish.

In the event that there may be a bid for ITV from anyone but Liberty and if stock is lent out then Liberty is insured on the upside value of ITV as GS have underwritten those various call options and equally any downside (which we have seen lately) Liberty are also insured as GS have underwritten an equal series of put options as well.

Very interesting day today, on face value it looks as though the stock was relatively boring but that couldn't be further from the truth.

Today was the busiest trading day in the stock for the year, just shy of 32mliion shares traded and around 6700 trades were transacted.

And still no RNS from Capital !

Just looked at the latest holdings in ITV and with GS with a registered holding of 20.67% (not sure what is unofficially)and Capital disposing of 9.9% that will take GS holding to over the 30% threshold.

With Liberty holding 9.9% as well, GS will only need just under 10% more of ITV before surpassing 50% ownership of ITV.

I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

GS can call this stock up or down whenever they like. They have a complex OTC hedging trade in place with Liberty, I won't go into too much detail but if you look at the last RNS but one on here and scroll towards the bottom, you will see their complex put/call derivative trade with a forward expiry to the year 2030 !!

They are fully hedged here to the tune of 4,025,000,000 shares, i.e they have hedged the whole share capital of the company !

And courtesy of the other website this evening, it looks like Capital have sold their remaining 4.9% of their share in ITV.

So with Fridays sell, that's the best part of 400million shares in total , i.e 9.9% of the company:-

Just checked the latest ITV holdings and Capital Group are no longer on it (see below) !!

Looks like Goldmans dangled a big enough carrot for them to sell their remaining 4.1% in ITV.

Either way, expect to see some action this week !

There's a post on the other website with a rumour that it was Goldman Suchs that bought the 5% of ITV from Capital Partners last week.

That sounds about right to me and explains why there hasn't been any news or fanfare about the transaction.

So just picked up a few more !!

The only way the price would be made public was if some broker 'placed' 200 million shares of ITV via the open market on behalf of Capital Group.

Now on the basis there was hardly any movement in the stock this week (1p down on the week) and daily volume was pretty constant around 16m shares give or take apart from 14th July when there was 26m traded, I am 100% sure someone has snapped up these 200m shares in one go.

It has gone largely unnoticed today, it is a Friday after all and a Friday before many schools break up for their Summer holidays, classic broker traits to deal stealthily and I wonder if the price paid for 200 million shares was £1.00 ?

Why, well because the stock hardly moved around the 67p level for a couple of weeks now and a bid premium of 50% is headline grabbing news in any event and 50% of 67p, well guess what it will take ITV to the £1.00 figure.

Lets see.

We all now know that Capital Group disposed of around 200 million shares as previously mentioned but what we don't know is at what price did they sell at ?

And if they wanted 'out' of ITV why keep the remaining 5% odd of the company.

They have obviously accepted an offer and are holding out for a higher price for their remaining holding maybe if there is a counterbid for ITV perhaps ??

Its all about price now.

For those whom are genuinely interested in this company, this morning Capital Group announced it has reduced its holding in ITV from 9.9% down to 4.91%.

So they have disposed of roughly 200,000,000 shares, the question we should now be asking is who bought them ??
