RE: TEMPUS ITV pins its hopes on latest box of tricks6 Oct 2020 11:03
Good article there Nige but again another financial 'expert' from the Times that still observes ITV from afar with blinkers and still places a great deal of emphasis on just the advertising revenue stream generated by the company.
Yes, as the economy recovers (goodness knows when that will be ??) then obviously advertising budgets are increased by companies but as Carolyn McCall recognised after her first year or so at the company the big bucks are now generated via the various production arms ITV now have in situ. Its these production companies whom can sell programmes all over the world if successful and generate huge sums for ITV, you just have to look at I'm a Celebrity, Dancing on Ice, Love Island etc. as well as period dramas Downton Abbey, Broadchurch etc.
After all this time the penny has dropped with Ms. McCall and ITV are finally moving into the Amazon, Netflix space but I feel it may have just come too late sadly.
