Aviva was 'stitched together' out of the mergers of Commercial Union, Norwich Union, General Accident, Friends and London & Edinburgh. Tremendous value destruction along the way, with smaller and seemingly more nimble competitors stealing its lunch. Some hope that the investments in Big Data and AI may deliver, however the likes of Amazon are in the wings.....
Having also watched four players all look at IWG, I'm getting used to the excitment of potential takeovers. Have to say that I'd prefer to remain independent; why let someone else take my future profits?
Statement was due today, as confirmed by RPC website. Expect it will now have to be deferred until after Market closes. Probably linked to 5:00pm deadline for potential bidders.
There has been some recent negative broker reports. However, they seem to reflect the 'go for growth' agenda which, for a few years, will depress the overall profit margin on turnover. The Financial Reports always include the margin by year of location opening. It takes a few years for new locations to rise to the margin deliveried by the established estate of locations. Take a view, say, of three years hence and the cash flow looks impressive. I suspect the brokers have taken a shorter term view.
Overall positive result announcement with expected Brexit noise and disappointing larger contract. however, the future looks as promising as it did before today’s news. Market is particularly skittish at the moment so so decline today is nothing more, in my opinion, than a blip on the journey. Happy to stay onboard.
Amusing yes, although I'd prefer the return of the surplus cash. Not sure the Bod have any specific skills which justify them moving away from ARL. Local Shopping Reit doesn't look as if it will be a particularly high return on capital when the liquidation completes.

Sold half my holding today so that the remainder is in at a low price. Will kick myself if we are sold at above 10.00 but at least the downside is no longer scary.
