Just got home and seen SP. Presume RNS to follow after hours

Noted but if that had legs would we have we seen a 10% drop today? more likely a 10% rise

My newspaper on Friday was suggesting that the directors of HOME and SBRY would be locked in a small room over the weekend to try and thrash out a deal

How would that work in the event of a takeover by Sainsburys. Rumours abound that we are about to see an offer of around £185 per share which would obviously exclude the value of Homebase but if the special div monies are still in the company, would that mean the offer needing to be increased by 26p per share? Or would the funds just be held in trust pending outcome of the t/o. Not sure why the div would be delayed to July.

Trading update and board changes. Trading in line with expectations and debt under control. Board. Doug's gone and 2 new non execs brought in. Doesn't seem to have done the SP any harm. 2 observations from me. Firstly, one of the new guys seems to have some experience in releasing value through buyouts. Could there be on offer in the offing? Secondly, new guys to take their income in shares quarterly. That makes in total a dilution of 7.5m shares every year. Let's hope they can work wonders on the SP

Haven't looked in on HOME for nearly 2 weeks as I thought I sold them at 137p on 7 January. However went to buy some PFD today but cash not available and turns out the sale didn't go through as the quote timed out. Lucky me. Price now 153p and looking at recent RNS, I assume I'm due a special div of 26p per share soon plus whatever comes from SBRY. Makes up for the £2500 lost on the market on Friday. Happy days.

Just hope all this takeover talk rubs off onto my other foodie PFD. Could do with something to push the SP up.

"i don't know about SBRY but i am walking away for now". I would have walked away with a 25% profit at luchtime but my HSBC internet banking site has been down all day and calls backed up. Glad I didn't now.

At the risk of sounding a bit thick, whilst I understand the first RNS and hopefully this will develop in due course, I am struggling to understand what the Form 8.3 mentioned in the 2nd RNS means. Can anyone shed any light please?

Some useful Black Friday news for Argos on the news this evening showing the Burton distribution centre with a spokesman saying they were inundated with orders. Let's home it shows in Monday's SP

I like to value my portfolio on a daily basis usually by taking the final figures from Google Finance and if the figure doesn't tie in with the graph, I also look at LSE closing figure. So when I see the UT trade of 1.8m shares at the close at £2.524 followed by an out of hours trade of 8159 at £251.22 I am naturally suspicious and also wonder which figure should I take for valuation purposes. Anyone any thoughts please?

All this talk of PE firms hovering over HOME certainly hasn't done the SP any harm. Funnily enough though, my son in law works at one of their big distribution centres and he tells me it's very quiet there considering the time of year.

Positive figures. Hopefully managed to arrest the slide. Market thinks so anyway. Up 10% in early trading.

Agree on that. Under normal circumstances, my top up this morning at £2.229 would be a no brainer. However the way the Chinese are behaving, not entirely sure we're out of the woods yet. Great long term bet though and brought my average down to £2.83.

Not sure I would want to participate in one without some sort of good news/prospects. Done too much chasing to the bottom on other shares. The crazy thing is we have some fantastic ground breaking products, yet still we just drift along.
