Is the BARON buying Afritin stock ?
This is the question I have been asking myself in the past week since I read an intriguing post dated 21st January 2021 on the Twitter feed of @Baroninvestment who is a recognised successful stock market investor who consistently identifies undervalued Companies with strong fundamentals and who is followed by many 1000s of retail investors.
The BARON’s post reads as follows (sorry I don’t know how to copy and paste it here)......”#TIN the least liquid of the main LME metals but highest levels today since 2014 as stockpiles fall, demand rises. Find a tin stock that’s barely moved (winking emoji)”....
I personally believe the answer is YES....This is because the BARON essentially focuses on investing in the UK stock market as reflected in his declared portfolio and therefore the options for his exposure to Tin are very limited and in terms of pure play it is essentially a list of 1, namely Afritin......Him currently buying in here would certainly explain the increased volume with the multiple large buys in the past week that has seen the share price steadily ticking up. Furthermore he was already an investor in Bushveld MInerals and would therefore be aware of their partial ownership link to Afritin.
I expect that we shall find out shortly if my hunch is correct as typically when he completes his position building he will tweet the new portfolio name to his followers and traditionally this then leads to a large volume of copycat buying as they buy-in likewise which causes the SP to shoot up (especially when the stock he choices has relatively low mcap / liquidity. Just take a look at JKX oil & gas as a recent example from few months ago where he bought in under 20p and it then shot up to mid 30s).
For transparency, I have purchased some ATM shares during this week because I believe my hunch will play out which will lead to increasing strong sentiment coming into this stock. If I’m wrong with my hunch about the BARON investing then anyway I like the look of the fundamentals here from doing my own due diligence and am happy to hold to see the positive impacts of the increasing Tin price, phase 2 expansion, lithium/tantalum production, etc aspects play out.
