Walker Crips Announces Upcoming Changes Of Chair And Finance Chief

Wed, 04th Sep 2019 14:34

(Alliance News) - Investment manager Walker Crips Group PLC on Wednesday said Chair David Gelber is to retire at its annual general meeting in September 2020.

Gelber has been non-executive chair at Walker Crips since 2007, and the company said an announcement about a successor will be made "at the appropriate time".

Further, Finance Director Rodney FitzGerald will step down at the end of September this year. He was chief executive of the company between 2007 and 2017.

FitzGerald will be replaced by Sanath Dandeniya, who is currently finance director of Walker Crips's investment management operations.

Gelber commented: "It has been a privilege to serve Walker Crips for the last 12 years, but it feels the right time to work with the board to appoint a successor over the next 12 months. These last few years have seen a period of huge change in the financial services industry, as well as within the group, and I know that the group is in good hands.

"We are financially strong and we have a skilled management team, capable of growing the business into the future."

"I would also like to pay tribute to Rodney FitzGerald, who served as CEO for the majority of my time as chair. He has led the group with integrity, great professionalism and served staff and shareholders diligently. We wish Rodney all the best in the future, and I welcome Sanath to the board," Gelber added.

Shares were 5.9% higher on Wednesday afternoon in London at a price of 27.00 pence each.
