UPDATE: Finablr Says Other Units Not Affected By Travelex Virus Attack

Thu, 02nd Jan 2020 18:31

(Alliance News) - Finablr PLC on Thursday said a software virus attack on its Travelex foreign currency service unit has not affected its other subsidiaries.

Travelex earlier took all its sites offline after being attacked by a software virus on New Year's Eve.

Travelex said it immediately took down its online systems to protect data and prevent the virus spreading after discovering the attack on Tuesday.

It has since been forced to provide foreign exchange services manually in its branches.

Finablr said: "There is no indication that any personal or customer data has been compromised and Travelex is working together with cyber experts to resolve the issue.

"Finablr's six other brands are not affected and are operating as normal. The company continues to monitor the situation closely and will update the market, if required."

Shares in the company closed 1.6% higher at 173.10 pence each in London on Thursday.
