UK tourism group says government to implement travel corridors on 29 June

Tue, 09th Jun 2020 08:18

(Sharecast News) - UK tourism lobby group said on Tuesday that travel corridors allowing unrestricted movement between Britain and some other countries will open from 29 June.
The group Quash Quarantine that represents 500 travel and hospitality firms said it had received assurances from senior government sources.

It also said that it continued to look at legal options, including joining a British Airways-led challenge to the government's 14-day quarantine rule.

Travel corridors between countries would mean that passengers are not required to self-isolate for a fortnight upon arrival, thus boosting the tourism sector, which has been badly hit by the coronavirus crisis.

"We are still considering our options regarding legal action, including whether to join BA's claim or launch our own action, but would prefer that 29th June is confirmed as soon as possible for the start of travel corridors," Quash Quarantine's spokesman Paul Charles said.
