Toshiba delays earnings results till March

(ShareCast News) - Shares in Toshiba fell 8% after the Japanese conglomerate delayed reporting its third quarter results on Tuesday as speculation grows about its nuclear business.Toshiba said that it is delaying publishing its results until 14 March as a review by an independent accounting auditor has not yet been completed and further investigation was required to look into accounting issues concerning its US nuclear business Westinghouse Electric.There have been suggestions that the company would report a net loss of over $4bn related to a $6bn loss from Westinghouse due to cost overruns with two projects when it bought a nuclear construction and services business.The BBC reported that Toshiba could also scale back its nuclear business affecting its plans to help build a new nuclear power plant in Cumbria in the UK.Shares in Toshiba fell 8.01% to 229.80p at close.
