Thu, 19th Mar 2015 10:26

LONDON (Alliance News) - STV Group PLC on Thursday said it has been awarded the licences to deliver local television services for Aberdeen, Ayr and Dundee.

The Scottish media company said the new services will be delivered in partnership with Robert Gordon University and North East Scotland College in Aberdeen, the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) in Ayr, and Abertay University and Dundee and Angus College in Dundee.

The licences will deliver local news and current affairs content, STV said.

"STV is committed to delivering local content for viewers in Scotland and the award today of three additional TV licences will serve to complement our existing STV family of broadcast, online and mobile services," said STV Director of Channels Bobby Hain.

Shares in STV were down 1.5% to 372.75 pence.
