Mears said the level of opportunities for its social housing division have never been higher after the group bagged three new contracts. The group’s social housing division has been awarded £64m of new contracts, with options for a further £20m.Sedgefield borough, an existing customer, has chosen Mears as one of two partners for its Decent Homes services. The contract runs for five years.The division has also been awarded a five-year partnership with Russet Homes in Kent to provide responsive repairs and voids services and a similar contract with the Penwith Housing Association and Devon and Cornwall Housing Association. The domiciliary care division has landed £6m of new contracts, one with Richmond upon Thames borough council and the other with Doncaster Metropolitan borough council.The deals mean the division now provides 90,000 hours of domiciliary care to 13,500 service users each week.“Mears is not experiencing and does not anticipate a slowdown in either opportunities to grow or in public sector spending in our two primary offerings which is also reinforced by recent comments by the UK government relating to increased spending,” Bob Holt, chief executive of the group, said.
