Motiva Port Arthur refinery restarting HCU after repairs-sources

HOUSTON, May 18 (Reuters) - Motiva Enterprises was restarting the 60,000 barrel per day (bpd) HydrocrackingUnit 2 at its 600,250 bpd Port Arthur, Texas, on Monday aftercompleting two weeks of repairs, said sources familiar withplant operations.

HCU 2 was shut on May 4 due to a malfunction and repairswere started. The hydrocracker primarily makes diesel fuel fromgas oil produced by a crude distillation unit. Diesel has becomea lucrative export for U.S. refiners on the Gulf Coast.

Motiva's Port Arthur refinery is the largest in the UnitedStates. Motiva is co-owned by Royal Dutch Shell Plc andSaudi Aramco. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by Bernard Orr)
