Earthport opens office in Singapure to expand its fotoprint

(ShareCast News) - Earthport, a payment network group for cross border transactions, has chosen Singapore as its new regional base in Asia, as part of its expansion plans.The group said its new office will work as a FinTech hub for the region and chose to announce the news to coincide with Prime Miniter David Cameron's visit to the country.Cameron said British companies like Earthport are "flying the flag and unlocking the economic potential of the fast growing economies of South East Asia".Meanwhile, chief executive Hank Uberoi said the opening of the Singapore is an "important milestone in the continuing expansion of Earthport's global footprint".Sajeev Viswanathan will lead the Asia business. He previously worked for Citigroup in the UK, India and Moscow. He will be joined by Rohit Bammi, a Singapore national, who has held positions at KPMG, Deutsche Bank and Citibank.The company's shares were up 1.19% to 40.98p on Tuesday at 1347BST.
