Chicago gasoline jumps 25 cents on BP's Whiting refinery outage -traders

NEW YORK, Aug 11 (Reuters) - Chicago's cash CBOB gasolinerallied 25 cents to trade as strong as 40 cents above thebenchmark U.S. RBOB gasoline futures on lift from theshut crude unit at BP Plc's refinery in Whiting, Indiana,traders in the region said on Tuesday.

BP Plc expects to restart the largest crudedistillation unit at the 413,500-barrel-per-day (bpd) Indianarefinery between Aug. 19 and Aug. 22, said sources familiar withthe refinery's plans. The unit shut on Saturday.

The refinery problem on Monday sent Chicago gasoline up 17 cents to 15 cents above the futuresbenchmark, before jumping to trade at 35 and 40 cents abovefutures early on Tuesday, brokers said.
