Central Asia Metals reiterates production guidance as eyes good news

Tue, 08th Apr 2025 10:25

(Alliance News) - Central Asia Metals PLC on Tuesday announced lower copper and zinc production, but higher lead production in the first quarter, as it expects positive news from its projects.

The base metals producer with operations in Kazakhstan and North Macedonia said it produced 2,852 tonnes of copper in the first quarter of 2025, down 8.6% from 3,120 tonnes a year prior.

Zinc output fell 2.9% to 4,603 tonnes from 4,741 tonnes, while lead production rose 1.2% to 6,608 tonnes from 6,529 tonnes.

Central Asia Metals reiterated its production guidance for 2025. It expects output of 13,000 to 14,000 tonnes of copper, similar to 13,439 tonnes in 2024.

Further, it anticipates zinc-in-concentrate production of 19,000 to 21,000 tonnes in 2025, up at least 2.3% from 18,572 tonnes in 2024.

The company expects to produce between 27,000 and 29,000 tonnes of lead-in-concentrate in 2025, at least 1.4% higher than 26,617 tonnes in 2024.

Chief Executive Officer Gavin Ferrar said: "CAML X, our exploration subsidiary in Kazakhstan, secured two additional licences during the period; and our associate in Scotland, Aberdeen Minerals, received encouraging results from its 2024 drilling campaign. We anticipate further positive news from these projects during the rest of the year."

Central Asia Metals shares were 2.7% higher at 151.77 pence each on Tuesday morning in London.
