Oct 8 (Reuters) - GLOBAL MARKETS ROUNDUP * Nifty futures on the Singapore Exchange are up 0.85percent, while the MSCI-Asia Pacific index excluding Japan is flat. * The dollar skidded to near an eight-month low on Tuesday asthe U.S. government shutdown entered its second week, leavinginvestors on tenterhooks as politicians in Washington madelittle headway in agreeing a deal to avoid an historic U.S. debtdefault. * U.S. stocks fell on Monday, extending two weeks of losses, asa lack of progress in ending the partial U.S. governmentshutdown or the debt-ceiling standoff kept investorsnervous.
