Tertiary Minerals defines substantial copper anomaly at Mukai project

Tue, 12th Sep 2023 11:03

(Alliance News) - Tertiary Minerals PLC on Tuesday said soil sample analysis has identified a major copper-in-soil anomaly at its Mukai project in Zambia.

The US and Zambia-focused mineral exploration and development company, concentrated on energy transition metals said the high-grade copper-in-soil anomaly saw copper values averaging at 252 parts per million of copper over an area of 1,300 metres by 400 metres.

The peak soil value was 1,660 parts per million.

Tertiary said the high-grade anomaly is part of a larger anomaly averaging 173 parts per million over an area of 1,800 metres by 800 metres.

The company said a subset of samples will be submitted for laboratory analysis.

It noted that its option and earn-in periods at the Mukai and Mushima North projects have been extended by six months with its local partner, Mwashia Resources, to account for earlier forest permit delays.

Chair Patrick Cheetham said: "The anomaly stretches to our property boundary with mining licences owned by First Quantum Minerals as part of the Trident mining complex and where soils have a lower copper content but where, nevertheless, drilling has found significant copper sulphide mineralisation.

"This enhances the prospectivity of the main part of the anomaly on the Mukai licence, which now presents an exciting target for drill testing."

Tertiary Minerals shares rose 9.9% to 0.14 pence each on Monday morning in London.
