Beowulf Mining's exploration programme in Sweden has been "slightly delayed" by the country's coldest December in 100 years when temperatures regularly plunged as low as -35 degrees celsius.Drilling activity has since returned to more normal levels, and assay results for the initial 10 drillholes at Kallak South are due by the end of February and final results for all 32 holes during the second quarter. Under Swedish law, drill operators must stop operations when it gets to -25 degrees Celsius. At -35 the oil in the drill can freeze. Building and engineering products company Alumasc grew interim profit before tax and restructuring costs by 12% to £2.1m on revenue up 17% at £52m."Whilst we remain cautious about the short term prospects for the UK construction market, we have increasing confidence that the exciting new product and export market development initiatives in both the Building Products division and at Alumasc Precision, together with the group's strong balance sheet and strategic positioning in sustainable building product niches, will enable Alumasc to leverage the anticipated steady economic recovery beyond the current financial year," boss Paul Hooper said.Retail real estate investment trust (REIT) Metric Property Investments has spent 90% of its IPO net proceeds but has around £190m of purchasing firepower which "leaves Metric in a strong position to capitalise on investment opportunities arising in the market"."Rental income is up 13% or £1.3m from the time of acquisition, including current deals in solicitors' hands, which will not only enhance our income returns but also drive capital growth," chief executive Andrew Jones said.German shopping malls investor Treveria is in talks with the banks about a negotiating €870m of loans that mature in July.
