(Alliance News) - SpaceandPeople PLC on Monday said its digital transformation project will deliver a more sophisticated web-based booking system, as it posted an interim profit.
The Glasgow-based promotional and short-term retail space provider said it swung to a pretax profit of GBP44,000 in the six months to June 30, from a loss of GBP210,000 a year prior.
Revenue climbed 26% to GBP3.7 million from GBP2.9 million. Cost of sales increased 16% to GBP674,000 from GBP579,000.
Administrative expenses were 16% higher, at GBP3.1 million from GBP2.6 million.
SpaceandPeople said it has invested in more client-facing staff to drive future sales, while it successfully completed the transfer of its operational hub to the Midlands. "This has already resulted in greater efficiencies and increased capabilities and will continue to do so going forward", it said.
Looking ahead, the company said: "Our digital transformation project will deliver a new and more sophisticated bespoke web-based booking system that will have full integration with our customer relationship management [CRM] and accounting systems.
"This will improve and streamline the process of searching for and booking space in venues, increase operational speed and enhance efficiency. In addition, the recent appointment of a group head of Marketing will assist our product teams with bespoke marketing plans to enable them to deliver sales growth as well as driving the group's overall messaging and market positioning/strategy.
"With new products, new operational premises, new talent, particularly in client-facing roles, and expanding operations across Europe, SpaceandPeople has strengthened its position at the forefront of our industry in the UK market and beyond. We look to the future with strong momentum, a clear strategy, and the capability to deliver sustained growth."
SpaceandPeople shares rose 5.2% to 178.75 pence each on Monday afternoon in London.
