Modern Water hails success of test plant

Mon, 29th Jun 2009 08:04

Modern Water said its plant in Gibraltar, which uses the company’s desalination technology, is performing ahead of expectations. The water technologies group’s Gibraltar plant has been supplying water directly into Gibraltar’s potable water distribution system since May 2009, and the quality of the water being provided has been approved by both the client and an independent third-party expert. The Gibraltar proving plant is the first to use the company’s Manipulated Osmosis Desalination technology, which the company claims is a more cost effective and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional desalination methods.“The operational success of the Gibraltar plant is a key milestone for Modern Water in demonstrating the effectiveness of our technology in a commercial environment,” said Neil McDougall, executive chairman of Modern Water. The company signed an agreement last year to locate a second proving plant for its technology in Oman.
