SMALL-CAP WINNERS & LOSERS: Gaming crackdown hits Macau Property

Tue, 01st Feb 2022 11:13

(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Tuesday.

----------

SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

----------

Mears Group PLC, up 2.8% at 201.00 pence, 12-month range 144.50p-228.00p. The housing and social care provider expects revenue of GBP870 million for 2021, rising 7.9% from GBP806 million in 2020. Adjusted pretax profit is to come in at GBP25.5 million, topping market consensus of GBP25.1 million. "This financial performance has been driven by sustained higher volumes of work across the group. Despite the operational challenges posed by Omicron in December and January, there has been no material impact on activity levels or service quality," Mears says.

----------

Brunner Investment Trust PLC, up 2.9% at 1,080.60 pence, 12-month range 848.00p-1,140.00p. Brunner tracks US equity markets higher. Brunner has stakes in New York-listed equities including Microsoft Corp and Visa Inc.

----------

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

----------

Macau Property Opportunities Fund Ltd, down 3.3% at 46.40p, 12-month range 0.45p-46.40p. A crackdown on the casino sector in Macau has hit the investment firm. The head of Macau's second-largest junket group has been arrested by the city's police, as authorities tighten the leash on the gambling hub's multi-billion-dollar industry, AFP reported on Monday. The company invests in properties in Macau. A junket operator brings high rollers from the mainland to Macau's casinos.
