UK TRADING UPDATE SUMMARY: Lekoil Fires Back At Shareholder Metallon

Tue, 22nd Dec 2020 18:06

(Alliance News) - The following is a round-up of updates by London-listed companies, issued on Tuesday and not separately reported by Alliance News:

----------

Lekoil Ltd - Lagos-headquartered oil exploration and production company with interests in Nigeria and offshore Namibia - Says arguments made by Metallon Corp Ltd, which requisitioned general meeting of Lekoil shareholders, are "specious and designed to distract from their true intentions". Lekoil says it has never been against making board changes. "The board considers the requisitioned resolutions to be no more than an ill-disguised attempt by Metallon to gain control of your company without paying a price to all shareholders," Lekoil adds. Company explains that should Metallon's proposals be passed, the shareholder's appointees will represent 50% of Lekoil's board and will also have a casting vote. "The board does not believe that it would be appropriate for a 15% shareholder, to enjoy that level of board representation and control over the company. Metallon has been a shareholder for less than six months," Lekoil adds.

----------

Echo Energy PLC - Latin American-focused upstream oil and gas firm - Raises additional GBP856,000 through issue of 167.8 million shares at 0.51 pence each. Notes that operator of Taki Aike exploration asset, onshore Argentina has said that should drilling of next exploration well not begin by intended first quarter date, Echo's option over asset will lapse. "The decision by the company to allow the option to lapse is inkeeping with Echo's ongoing focus on high impact cash generative production and on the identified and lower risk potential upside in the Santa Cruz Sur portfolio," Echo adds.

----------

Xtract Resources PLC - miner with projects in Mozambique and Zambia - Says drilling of first three holes of phase one programme at Racecourse resource in Bushranger project, Australia has progressed to depth of 213.1 metres. "Significant copper mineralisation commenced in the hole at a depth of 110 metres and continues to the current depth of the drill hole at 213.1 metres," Xxtract says. "Following a short break over Christmas, drilling will recommence from the current depth of 213.1 metres and will continue to the planned depth of 815 metres."

----------

Power Metal Resources PLC - metal exploration and development company - Consultants confirm "at least one conductive target" intersected at Molopo Farms project, Botswana. ----------
