SMALL-CAP WINNERS & LOSERS: Metro Bank rises, Bank of Ireland falls

Wed, 27th Apr 2022 11:01

(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Wednesday.

----------

SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

----------

Metro Bank PLC, up 6.6% at 91.65 pence, 12-month range 70.89p-147.80p. The challenger bank reports first quarter net loans of GB12.34 billion, up 2% on a year before, and deposits rise 1% to GBP16.50 billion. "Metro Bank has delivered a solid quarter, as we continue to accelerate the shift of our balance sheet, with improved yields achieved from specialist mortgages and unsecured lending, alongside lower cost of deposits and tight cost control," says Chief Executive Daniel Frumkin.

----------

Alfa Financial Software Holdings PLC, up 6.1% at 178.25p, 12-month change 112.50p-221.00p. Reports first quarter revenue of GBP22.5 million, up from GBP20.2 million a year before. "In the month of March, we worked more chargeable days than at any time in the Company's history and we expect these high levels of chargeability to continue," the software developer for the finance industry says. Decides to declare special dividend of 3p per share due to it generating "excess cash".

----------

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

----------

Bank of Ireland Group PLC, down 7.2% at EUR6.23, 12-month range EUR3.85-EUR7.03. Says business momentum positive but bank is "vigilant to the impact of higher inflation on customer sentiment arising from higher commodity prices and exacerbated by the unacceptable invasion of Ukraine." Net interest income in fist quarter is broadly stable year-on-year. Adds it took "modest" net credit impairment charge in the quarter, in line with expectations.

----------

Lamprell PLC, down 3.8% at 26.80p, 12-month range 24.10p-68.80p. Expects to publish results for 2021 by no later than June 30, in line with the forbearance granted by the Financial Conduct Authority. "As previously announced, the group continues to progress a number of potential financing and strategic options, including asset monetisation, project-specific financing, hybrid facilities and/or additional equity, with a view to finalising these options in Q2 2022," the fabrication, engineering and contracting services provider for the oil and gas industries says.
