Johnston Press Shares Spike 60%, Knows Of No Reason Why

LONDON (Alliance News) - Johnston Press PLC said Thursday it does not know the reason behind its sharp share price increase.

Shares were trading 60% higher at 5.66 pence each Thursday afternoon.

The newspaper publisher - whose titles include the i and the Scotsman - added that it is continuing to explore a number of strategic options for the restructuring or refinancing of its bonds. It added that no agreement has yet been reached.

"The company confirms that it is not in receipt of any plan or proposal from any party for a refinancing or restructuring of its debt," it added.
