FTSE 250 movers: N Brown jumps after broker upgrade

Wed, 21st Aug 2013 14:36

Internet shopping group N Brown was a high riser today after Credit Suisse raised its rating for the stock from 'neutral' to 'outperform' and lifted its target price from 455p to 620p.N Brown, whose brands include Simply Be, Jacamo and Figleaves, has seen its stock surge by around 50% so far this year but Credit Suisse still sees more upside given its potential to "transform this traditional credit-driven mail order business into a more competitive and profitable apparel company with scalability overseas".JPMorgan Indian Investment Trust was a heavy faller today as the rupee weakened to a fresh record low against the dollar on expectations that the Federal Reserve will soon begin to taper stimulus, as well as concerns over Indian growth. The outflow of funds from emerging markets was also putting downwards pressure on investment manager Ashmore Group,Man Group and Schroder Asia Pacific Fund.Hikma Pharmaceuticals trimmed gains slightly but was still trading in positive territory after raising its guidance to around 20% revenue growth for the year, from 17% previously, after a strong first half.African Barrick Gold declined after revealing that its CEO Greg Hawkins has resigned with immediate effect to "pursue other opportunities". He will be replaced by industry veteran Bradley Gordon, the former frontman of Intrepid Mines.Shares in sector peer Hochschild Mining also fell after the precious metals producer suspended its interim dividend as first-half results were hit by falling commodity prices.FTSE 250 - RisersBrown (N.)
