(Alliance News) - UK esports owner and developer Guild Esports PLC on Thursday said it has signed professional Fortnite player Nikolaj Andreas Froslev, known as Flikk.
Fortnite is a popular online battle royal multiplayer game developed by Epic Games, which was released in 2017.
Flikk has signed a one-year contract with the option to renew for another year and will compete under the Guild banner in upcoming Fortnite tournaments including Epic Games' Marvel Super Series, the USD1 million Super Cup on November 21.
He is ranked as the number 16 best player in Europe, has finished in the top three in the Fortnite Champion Series Trio Finals this month and has won the Champion Cash Cup twice.
This signing marks Guild's move into its fourth esports discipline and is set to be followed by several more Fortnite player appointments to be announced in due course. The new signings will join Guild's existing players competing in Valorant, a 5v5 multiplayer tactical shooter; Rocket League, a motor-racing and soccer hybrid game; and FIFA, the football franchise.
Executive Chair Carleton Curtis said: "Guild is excited to join the thriving global Fortnite community and our entry into this esport is one of our biggest plays so far as we realise our ambitions to compete in the industry's most popular titles. We have big plans for Fortnite and look forward to creating engaging content and esports entertainment for its huge audience."
Shares in Guild Esports were down 3.2% at 6.00 pence in London on Thursday's close.
