Two Sports Direct execs sell off entire stakes

Thu, 28th Mar 2013 15:03

The Chief Executive Officer and Finance Director of Sports Direct, the High Street sports retailer, sold off their entire holdings in the firm this week following a strong share-price performance over the last year.David Forsey and Robert Mellor both offloaded their remaining 803,922 shares each in the company on Wednesday at a price of 425p. The sales, worth £3.4m to each executive, mean that neither now own a stake in the company. The moves follow an impressive 50% jump in the stock over the last 12 months on the back of a strong sales performance in the 2012/2013 financial year.Sports Direct reported last month that sales over its third quarter, which covers the key Christmas period for retailers, increased by 21.1% and that it is on track to hit its full-year profit targets. The firm recently bought Republic, the High Street fashion chain that went into administration earlier this year. The acquisition safeguarded 2,100 jobs through the purchase of Republic's 114 stores, its head office in Leeds and associated websites.Top Director BuysHydroDec Group (HYR) Director name: Mr Andrew BlackAmount purchased: 2,000,000 @ 11.00p Value: £220,000Staffline Group (STAF) Director name: Mr Andy HogarthAmount purchased: 50,000 @ 392.00p Value: £196,000Vesuvius (VSVS) Director name: Mr John McDonoughAmount purchased: 50,000 @ 355.24p Value: £177,620British American Tobacco (BATS) Director name: Ms Ann GodbehereAmount purchased: 2,430 @ 3,509.59p Value: £85,283Brewin Dolphin Holdings (BRW) Director name: Mr David Richardson Nicol Amount purchased: 30,000 @ 209.50p Value: £62,850Catlin Group Ltd.
