LONDON (Alliance News) - Marshalls PLC on Friday appointed Vanda Murray as a non-executive director & chair of the board to replace Andrew Allner, who will depart in May.

The hard landscaping products manufacturer said in October Allner would step down as chairman and as a non-executive director "during 2018". It confirmed Friday he leave at the end of its annual general meeting on May 9, which is when Murray will take up her role.

Marshalls said Murray currently serves as the senior independent non-executive director of FTSE 100-listed distribution company Bunzl PLC, while she is also a non-executive director of FTSE 250-listed housebuilder Redrow PLC.

In addition, Murray is chairman of polymer-based products firm Fenner PLC.

"We are delighted that Vanda has accepted the invitation to join Marshalls, as chair of the board and as a non-executive director," said Chief Executive Martyn Coffey.

"I would also like to record our thanks to Andrew, who has provided clear and consistent leadership, both as chair of remuneration committee and subsequently as chairman of the board, over the past 15 years."

The stock was trading 1.0% higher at 429.40 pence per share on Friday.
