First Derivatives Chair Seamus Keating Moves Over To CEO Role

Wed, 15th Jan 2020 09:15

(Alliance News) - First Derivatives PLC on Wednesday said Chair Seamus Keating has been made chief executive officer, and non-executive director Donna Troy has been promoted to chair, both immediately.

Shares in the trading software developer were up 0.8% at 2,535.00 pence in London in morning trading.

Keating succeeds previous CEO Brian Conlon, who died in July 2019, at which point Keating had taken on the role of executive chair.

Keating held various senior roles at Logica PLC before it was acquired by CGI Group in 2012, including chief financial officer and chief operating officer. He joined First Derivatives in December 2012 and was made chair in July 2013.

Following the CEO appointment, Keating has stepped down from board committees of which he was a member.

Troy was appointed to the First Derivatives board in January 2018 and "has held CEO, division general management and sales leadership roles" within companies such as IBM Corp, McAfee LLC, Dell Inc, and SAP SE.

At present, Troy is a non-executive director at Pivot3, TIBCO Software Inc, Aptean Corp, and Curvature Inc. First Derivatives now is seeking new non-executive directors for its board.

Troy said: "We are delighted that Seamus has agreed to lead [First Derivatives] on the next stage of its journey. He was appointed executive chairman under the most difficult of circumstances and has demonstrated his ability to lead the team effectively while we undertook a search for a new CEO. There was considerable interest in the role from well-qualified candidates. However, as we refined the requirements it was apparent that we already had an outstanding candidate in Seamus. When he signalled his desire to take on the role the board was thrilled and I look forward to working with him to execute our strategy to realise the enormous potential within the group."
