Flying Brands' revenue will take a short-term hit from VAT payments after it shifted its flower packing and dispatch operations for its postal range from Jersey to the UK.The flowers and mail order specialist said these businesses will be outsourced to UK flower distributor, Top Flora, from today.'This switch of operations to the UK will allow Flying Flowers to offer a much wider range of stems and to improve greatly the quality and freshness of our bouquets,' the group said.Revenues will suffer as the company has chosen not to hike the price of its bouquets to reflect the addition of VAT.But the firm expects to grow the number of its active customers and that in the medium term the increase in sales will more than compensate for the loss of tax relief in Jersey. The company also announced the appointment of Marie Myles as sales & marketing director. She'll join from Experian, where she is currently director of marketing consulting services, at the start of next month.
