Flying Brands taps David Smith to head up operating businesses

(Sharecast News) - Flying Brands has added David Smith to its board to take on the roles of chief operating officer and chief executive of its two operating businesses, StoneChecker Software and Imaging Biometrics, with immediate effect.Smith, who has a 30-year history of building life sciences businesses in Europe and the United States, joined Flying Brands from Biocompatibles, where he initiated the group's ophthalmology and cardiology businesses, resulting in sales growth from nothing to more than £40m per year.Trevor Brown, Flying Brands' group chief executive, said, "I am delighted to welcome David to Flying Brands.""I believe that the company will benefit greatly from the breadth of his experience, not only from his proven ability to actualize strategic vision into strongly growing revenue, but also from applying his deep knowledge of the US medical market to our growing Artificial Intelligence product portfolio," Brown added.Back in July, Flying Brands raised £500,000 as a result of a share placing to fund the design and manufacture of a commercial version of a cloud-based interface for its StoneChecker software.The medical imaging software firm placed 20m shares onto the London Stock Exchange at a price of 2.5p each.Flying Brands will also use the monies raised from the placing to help it obtain FDA clearance for StoneChecker, begin commercial sales of the software in the UK and launch both StoneChecker and its Imaging Biometrics' products commercially in the US, India and China.As of 1040 BST, Flying Brands shares had picked up 2.98% to 2.32p.
