Diversified mining group Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation (ENRC) saw production increase across all its major commodity classes in the three months ended June 30th with iron ore having its best quarter for three years.Iron ore extraction totalled 10,874 thousand tonnes (kt) in the second quarter, up 9.9% year-on-year (y/y) and 17.4% higher than the first quarter (q/q). Total saleable products jumped 20.7% y/y to 4,345kt, up 26.5% q/q.The ferroalloys, alumina and aluminium and energy divisions also registered increased production y/y. However, the other non-ferrous division saw saleable cobalt output fall, offset by a rise in copper production."Our operations in Kazakhstan and Africa have had an excellent quarter. Production volumes are up year-on-year across all of our key commodities, with the Iron Ore Division having had its best quarter in three years," said Chief Executive Officer Felix J Vulis."In Africa we have continued to ramp up copper volumes with new production coming from both Frontier and Chambishi, in line with the targets for the development of our African copper business."The stock was down 2.04% at 216.6p in early trading on Wednesday.BC
