IN BRIEF: Character Group posts "strong" interim sales performance

Thu, 29th Apr 2021 12:13

Character Group PLC - Surrey, England-based toy, games and gifts manufacturer - Reports 44% increase in revenue for the six months ended February 28 to GBP74.5 million from GBP51.7 million a year before, while pretax profit multiplies to GBP7.6 million from GBP2.2 million. Says interim underlying pretax profit amounted to GBP6.1 million, up from both the GBP2.5 million reported for same period a year ago and the GBP5.0 million achieved for financial 2020.

Says "strong" performance of the first half of the year continues into the second half and, as a result, full-year underlying pretax profit will be "materially ahead" of market consensus at GBP10.5 million.

"We have continued to see a strong performance in sales of our product portfolio in all our territories from the commencement of the second half of the year. This growth is forecast to continue through to and beyond Christmas 2021 and we are on target to deliver the best performance in any calendar year in the group's history," says Character Group.
