Computacenter jumps on Amazon Web Services partnership

Wed, 28th Nov 2018 16:00
(Sharecast News) - IT services outfit Computacenter made strong gains on Wednesday after it was chosen by Amazon Web Services (AWS) to be an official partner of its "Well-Architected Framework".Amazon's Well-Architected Framework is a scheme designed to help users build a secure, high-performance and efficient infrastructure for their applications. Partners in the scheme help customers to establish "good architectural habits, eliminate risk, and respond faster to changes that affect designs, applications, and workloads".Kevin Stavers, director for platform and hybrid IT at Computacenter, said: "As AWS continues to rapidly evolve its technologies, it is essential that partners such as Computacenter continue to invest in the skills to ensure our customers have the capabilities to optimise their cloud estates when available."In a message on Twitter the company said it was delighted to have become an official AWS Well-Architected partner and that it would be investing heavily in the project."Through this partnership, we can ensure customers are deploying their applications in a way that utilises the most up-to-date services, tools training and guidance to build and deploy cloud-native architectures, understand and mitigate risks and make informed decisions better and faster than ever before," said Stavers. The news comes as the cloud infrastructure market has become increasingly challenging for smaller companies after Amazon and fellow US giant Microsoft weighed in with their respective Web Service and Azure offerings.Computacenter's shares were up 5.90% at 1,118.32p at 1615 GMT.
