HOUSTON, Dec 23 (Reuters) - BP Plc plans to beginrestarting a catalytic reformer at the 413,500 barrel per day(bpd) Whiting, Indiana, refinery over the weekend, a sourcefamiliar with plant operations said on Friday.
The 60,000 bpd reformer, which produces octane-boostinggasoline components from refining byproducts, shut down onTuesday, triggering a jump of 5 cents a gallon in wholesalegasoline prices on the Chicago market.
The refinery is running at about 75 percent of its capacitydue to the reformer outage, Chicago refined products marketsources told Reuters on Thursday. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by Richard Chang and DianeCraft)
