HOUSTON, Feb 25 (Reuters) - A 102,500 barrel-per-daygasoline-producing fluidic catalytic cracking unit remains shutat BP Plc's 240,000 bpd Los Angeles-area refinery inCarson, California, after maintenance work was extended,according to sources familiar with operations at the refinery.
Wholesale gasoline prices climbed 2.5 cents a gallon in theLos Angels spot market on Monday as refiners increased demand,traders said. The Carson refinery FCC had been expected torestart production on Friday.
A BP spokesman declined to discuss operations at the Carsonrefinery.
The work was extended as unexpected further repairs arerequired on the units, the sources said.
The FCC and an alkylation unit have undergone six weeks ofoverhaul required to maintain safe, reliable operation. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by Dan Grebler)
