HOUSTON, July 24 (Reuters) - BP Plc was restarting a24,300 barrel per day (bpd) hydrotreating unit on Friday at thecompany's 413,500 bpd Whiting, Indiana, refinery, said sourcesfamiliar with plant operations.
The unit, which uses hydrogen to remove sulfur dioxide frommotor fuels in compliance with U.S. environmental rules, wasshut on Tuesday night by a malfunction.
Refinery monitoring service Genscape said the unit returnedto normal operation early on Friday, but the sources said theunit was in the process of returning to normal production onFriday. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by Bernard Orr)
