All hands on deck as Admiral non-exec buys

Tue, 13th Sep 2011 14:06

Non-executive of Admiral, John Sussens's wife has bought £381,900 worth of shares in the insurance firm. This is the second purchase for wife Cheryl, increasing her stake in the company by 30,000 shares to a total of 52,000. The first purchase, made at the end of August, saw the shares purchased at 1,320p each, but this time the price was slightly lower at 1,273p. Earlier this month Admiral warned that it might see "a small proportion" of its profits put at risk under the government's plans to ban the payment of referral fees to insurers. The warning came after the Ministry of Justice unveiled plans to tackle rising insurance costs by abolishing referral fees in a bid to curb "compensation culture". The firm's share price has taken a dive in the last month, falling around 15% to the 1,280p mark. Sussens, 65, was appointed to his position in 2004 and is also the chairman of the firm's renumeration committee.
