(Alliance News) - Berkeley Energia Ltd on Friday said it has taken the first steps to overturn an unfavourable report by Spain's nuclear regulator, the Nuclear Safety Council, regarding its Salamanca project in Spain.
Berkeley shares jumped 10% to 16.50 pence each in London on Friday morning.
Earlier this month, the NSC blocked Berkeley's planned uranium mine in Salamanca, Spain due to safety concerns.
The clean energy company, which is currently focused on bringing the project into production, said it has now submitted an "improvement report" to supplement the company's initial application, along with arguments that address all of the issues raised by the NSC.
Berkeley said that the arguments in the improvement report "will clearly demonstrate that the project is compliant with all requirements for NSC".
"It should also be noted that more than 120 previous permits and favourable reports have been granted by the relevant authorities at the local, regional, federal and European Union levels in relation to the Salamanca project, among which nine have been from the NSC," Berkeley said.
