SMALL-CAP WINNERS & LOSERS: Bisichi rises on "unprecedented" earnings

Wed, 31st Aug 2022 11:11

(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Wednesday.

----------

SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

----------

Bisichi PLC, up 14% at 397.50 pence, 12-month range 65.49p-508.5p. Swings to pretax profit of GBP21.2 million in first half of 2022 from loss of GBP686,000 a year before. "These unprecedented earnings for the group can be attributed to a strong performance from Sisonke Coal Processing, the group's South African coal processing operation which benefited from significantly higher prices of free-on-board coal from Richards Bay Coal Terminal," it says. In light of performance, will pay interim dividend of 10p.

----------

Esken Ltd, up 7.5% at 4.98p, 12-month range 4.56p-17.27p. The aviation and renewable energy company says it expects to take a hit after London Southend Airport's global logistics partner said it will cease to use cargo operations, effective from mid-September. Expects a GBP900,000 hit to earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation for the remainder of the current financial year, before exit fees. There are exit fee provisions within the contract, and the unnamed logistics customer also will pay fees related to its 60-day notice period, Esken says. Outside of Southend airport, Esken said its Renewables division continues to perform well and remains on track to achieve Ebitda in excess of GBP22 million in the current financial year.

----------

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

----------

Cineworld Group PLC, down 7.6% at 2.18p, 12-month range 1.8p-85.16p. Shares in the cinema operator continue downwards trend after last week warning it is considering filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the US, as it continues to battle with liquidity issues.
