Bisichi PLC - London-headquartered company with coal operations in South Africa and retail property investments in London - Reports pretax profit of GBP5.0 million for six months ended June 30, up from GBP299,000 the year before. Total production from South African mining operation Black Wattle Colliery doubles, rising to 708,000 metric tonnes from 354,000. Revenue however decreases 9.2% to GBP23.5 million from GBP25.9 million, due to the adverse impact of "continued constraints on the South African rail network", and lower coal prices achieved by its processing operation Sisonke Coal Processing. Company declares 3 pence per share interim dividend, unchanged from the prior year. Says that looking ahead to the rest of 2024, "we will continue to see the benefits from the new mining area at Black Wattle" and remains confident it will "achieve significant value from our South African operations". Notes "stabilisation in coal prices in both the export and domestic market".

London & Associated Properties PLC - London-based investor in UK industrial and retail properties - Reports pretax profit of GBP4.2 million for the first half of 2024, against prior year's GBP2.5 million loss. Net asset value per share rises 0.4% to 33.50 pence at June 30 from 33.38p at December 31. Group revenue decreases 13% annually to GBP24.8 million from GBP28.3 million. However company reports GBP920,000 gain on fair value of investment in Bisichi PLC, against a GBP553,000 loss. Operating costs decrease 30% to GBP20.0 million from GBP28.7 million.

Bisichi PLC - coal mining in South Africa - Swings to pretax profit of GBP21.2 million in the six months to June 30 from a loss of GBP686,000 a year earlier, as revenue rises to GBP45.4 million from GBP23.6 million. "These unprecedented earnings for the group can be attributed to a strong performance from Sisonke Coal Processing, the group’s South African coal processing operation which benefited from significantly higher prices of free-on-board coal from Richards Bay Coal Terminal", the company explains.
