Emissions exchange operator Climate Exchange reports its results for 2009 on Friday, having already described the year as a ‘perfect storm made up of the coincidence of several events.’These events included ‘the global credit crunch, resulting in reduced volumes in many markets; the closure of many bank proprietary trading desks and significant redemptions for hedge funds and other speculative pools of capital; great political uncertainty leading up to Copenhagen where, as expected, there was no legally binding commitment to a global emissions reduction programme and, lastly, a pushing back of the timetable for a Senate vote on the proposed federal programme in the US.’ Despite all of the above, the group continued ‘to demonstrate outstanding growth in volumes and open interest’ in its mandatory market products.The market is expecting the company to announce pre-tax profits of £2.59m, versus a loss of £2.54m the year before. Revenue is expected to steam ahead to £34.32m from £22.78m in 2008.Aga Rangemaster, maker of the iconic Aga cooker, said in January that it expects to post a profit for 2009 after the housing market picked up in the latter part of the year.If it does so then the profit is likely to be only a small one, given that the consensus market forecast among four brokers covering the stock is for a small loss of £1m.
