LONDON (Alliance News) - AFC Energy PLC Wednesday said that Air Products PLC has agreed to become a strategic partner for the Power Up Programme, a surplus hydrogen-to-electricity project.
The fuel cell energy developer said Air Products is replacing Industrial Chemicals Limited, which had planned to participate in the EUR6.1 million EU-backed project.
AFC Energy said the project will be sited in Stade, northern Germany, and the company plans to install the first system in Germany during 2014 to be operational in the second half of the year.
The company said, this first system will be capable of running with 24 cartridges and is expected to generate approaching 250,000 watts when it reaches full power.
AFC Energy shares fell 1.2% to 40.00 pence Wednesday.
