Gold explorer Anglo Asian Mining (AAM) has revealed that its flagship mine in western Azerbaijan contains more gold than it thought.AAM said a study by independent consultants had enabled the group to increase its estimate of resources at the Gedabek gold, copper and silver mine by 29% to 61,795,775 tonnes. The latest resource update was mainly due to new drilling results at Gedabek leading to a reinterpretation of the mine model.AAM Chief Executive Reza Vaziri said: "The significant addition of resources at Gedabek indicates that continued exploration and development in the immediate Gedabek area may result in the discovery of additional resources in 2014."We are delighted that this resource expansion has the potential to extend the life-of-mine for several additional years and look forward to reporting further on the exploration and development of Gedabek in the coming year."Shares in AAM rose 0.75p or 8.2% to 9.88p by 13:45 in London.PW
